Description
"The Woodshed", Ink and Wash by Elmer Rising, 1970. This print, number 34/100, is signed by the artist. The original of this work is in the Collection of Bowdoin College's Museum of Art.
From the Artist's book, "New England in Black and White: The Pen Renderings of Elmer Rising":
"A friend bought a little old house on Long Island on Lake Winnipeasukee in New Hampshire. I used the doorway of his shed to frame this view. Then I decided to add a woodpile, and I took some pictures of cut wood near Concord.
I got so intrigued with drawing one piece of wood after another, the detail of the work exhausted me. At times I wished I hadn't split so much!"
