Exquisite Eating and Paddling on a Wild River

Item Number: 275
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Hans Meyer owns a rustic log cabin in Florence County on the shores of the Popple River, a state-designated Wild River. Hans offers a gourmet lunch at the cabin in the midst of a guided paddling trip on the Popple with two veterans of Northwoods rivers -- John Roberts and Larry Zibell. You'll paddle on the Popple in the morning, stop at the Meyer cabin for lunch, then carry on downriver for more paddling on some of Wisconsin's most thrilling and scenic waters.
This is a truly unique opportunity to enjoy a wild river in a beautiful setting with people who know and love that territory.

Check out the following testimonial from last year's auction winners Glenn Reinl and Sara Krebsbach.
"We had a delightful day on one of Wisconsin's lovely wild rivers. Our excursion began with a water taxi ride (old canoe) over to Hans' charming log cabin, where we were served a delicious gourmet lunch. John and Larry brought the geology and history of the region to the table. These three men, widely experienced paddlers and champions of up-north wilderness, helped us choose the river to best accommodate us and our goals for the day. We each paddled with one of them and therefore felt like capable canoeists ourselves."
Special Instructions
This outing should be planned for Saturday, May 14, 2016. (If the Popple's water level is too low for safe paddling, we will repair to a different nearby river.) This offer is good for up to 2 people (one person per guide). Some canoeing or kayaking experience is required. Participants should be comfortable kneeling while paddling through the numerous class 2 rapids. Canoes will be provided by the guides.
