Description
SHALL WE DANCE? Tango with the Aleph Artist: Sherry Steiner Mixed mediums: acrylic, oils, metallics, pastels, on canvas 25" High x 32" Wide The Artist's View: "My passion is the mystical significance of Hebrew letters, long considered the dimensional building blocks of our creation. These letters are the internal global thread of lineage and light that enlightens the tapestry of our Jewish heritage. Their tango of graceful movement, seemingly all with a purpose, has inspired me to depict their powerful flow of composition and hidden meaning with radiant color and poise. The theme of my work is Shalom - world peace. My art is a form of tikkun olam - repairing the broken spiritual vessel of the world. This exhibit is a divinely inspired gift to heal the world through the experiential beauty of Jewish life and the Torah through the eyes of the Aleph Bet." About the Artist: Other works, entitled "Mayuhedet" (Hebrew for "special") include: - a series of menorahs made from glass and stone; - illuminated ketubot (Hebrew and Aramaic marriage contracts); - a series of acrylic and pastel paintings of famous rabbis including Maimonides and the Lubavitcher Rebbe; - abstract charcoal figure drawings; - charcoal and acrylic paintings depicting Tu b'Shvat - Judaisms arboreal holiday that celebrates the blossoming of the almond trees in Israel.
