ARTIST STATEMENT: I was born in New York City, NY, and spent my early childhood in Queens, NY. When I was nine, my family moved to Syosset, New York, on Long Island. In 1964 I arrived in Providence, Rhode Island as a freshman at the Rhode Island School of Design, a.k.a. RISD. Upon graduation I opened and operated a screen printing studio specializing in producing fine art prints for galleries and artists around the country. Several years later I was invited to become the head of the Screen Printing Department at the Rhode Island School of Design where I taught for three years, teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Wanting more time for my own work, however, I decided to return full-time to my studio where I could pursue the compelling ideas that have fueled my printmaking and other works ever since. My love of prints and of the printmaking process keeps me in my Providence studio exploring new techniques and experimenting with nontraditional print making materials.
