Description

4 Complimentary Guest Admission Passes to the High Desert Museum in Bend Oregon.

Would you have made it as a fur trader? Would you have survived the hot and dusty Oregon Trail? What was it like to live as a Northern Paiute? Come and find out at our indoor and outdoor exhibits at the High Desert Museum.

Encounter wild eagles, owls, otter and bobcat and other rescued animals in natural habitats.  Meet stagecoach drivers, pioneers and others from the American frontier.

Permanent indoor exhibits include the Spirit of the West, where visitors can witness how fur traders lived, the tribulations of traveling the Oregon Trail, and how a buckaroo spent his time.

By Hand Through Memory gives visitors a look into Plateau Native American life in the Reservation Era, showing how Plateau tribes have retained their identities by continuing traditions while actively participating in the rapid changes of a century.

The High Desert Museum's 53,000-square-foot main building anchors a quarter-mile trail that winds along a tranquil stream and through aspens and ponderosa pines, with a wide variety of outdoor exhibits that are open year-round. Guests may walk this trail to reach 32,000 square feet of outdoor exhibits and animal habitats.

At the Donald M. Kerr Birds of Prey center, get a close-up look at some of nature's fiercest predators - owls, hawks, and eagles, and other wildlife of High Desert forests.

Take a scenic walk through our paved nature trails, admire the rainbow trout in Cheney Pond, enjoy the Lazinka Sawmill, 1904 Miller Family Ranch and more!
