The winner will receive a certificate good for 6 stone carving classes and a small stone from Gainsburg Studio.
Sharon fell in love with stone 35 years ago. After working with clay, wood, metal, and plaster, she understood that she could best express and share her creative voice through stone carving.
She has been operating a school for stone carving for 32 years and have had great success teaching adults with no previous art background.
She teaches the direct carving method, which means we do not work with any models or sketches. We work directly with the natural shapes of the stone and learn all about form, 3D design and the use of the chisels, files and the hammer. This focus enables my students to experience less anxiety and at the same time provides them an opportunity to connect with the material and the process.
