Born in rural Michigan, Marie Bergstedt first became a teacher, briefly an artist, and for more than 25 years, a fund development manager.  In the 1970s and 80s she developed and exhibited a body of hand-colored photographs related to growing up in Michigan.  These large-scale images were selected for more than 30 solo and group juried exhibitions.  However, it was not until 2006 that she was able to enter a full-time art profession.  Memories from childhood again provide a foundation for her artwork.
