Description
Summer Haze (at Phillie's Bridge Farm), 2010, oil on canvas, 8 x 10 ins. (unframed), framed dimensions 14 x 16 ins.
This contemporary plein air painting follows in the tradition of the Hudson River School. It presents a view of Phillie's Bridge Farm, a non-profit, educational farm located near New Paltz that is dear to the heart of our Special Honored Guest James Ottaway, Jr.
Painter Kevin Cook believes that traditional landscape painting remains a vital and integral expression in the contemporary art scene. His works are largely unpopulated, quiet, and still. Exuding an inner peace and portraying the spirit of each place, they inspire thoughts of eternal life, the passage of time, and the process of nature. Said the Hudson Valley Almanac Weekly of Kevin in 2013: “The Hudson River School of painters . . . would easily recognize Cook as one of their own.” Kevin is a Guest Educator at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art in New Paltz.
