Description
Air Rights NYLyght NY, 2009-2010, archival print, colored pencil, 22 x 27 ins. and a Tour of Lyght’s Kingston Studio PLUS Lunch at Savona’s Trattoria
This one-of-a-kind hybrid drawing explores the structural nature of pictorial space. In this case, NYC water towers are muse for the hand-drawn lines that explore line, plane, volume, and color.
Andrew Lyght, who grew up by the sea in Guyana, South America, often wondered what happened where water and sky meet at the horizon line. The artist’s fascination with this phenomenon continues in Air Rights NYLyght NY.
In addition to this print, you’ll receive a private tour of Andrew’s extraordinary Kingston, NY studio. Located in a restored 1830s brick barn restored by the artist, it is dubbed the “Lyght Box” because of its flood of natural light.
Later, enjoy a meal at nearby Savona’s Trattoria, a local favorite. Located on Kingston, NY’s Historic Waterfront, this Italian restaurant is housed in a former Opera House that dates back to the 1800’s.
Andrew’s work will be featured in a Spring 2016 exhibition at The Dorsky entitled Andrew Lyght: Full Circle, curated by Tumelo Mosaka.
Studio tour to be scheduled.
