Less than four percent of federal funding for cancer research is allocated to pediatric cancer. Yet 430 Georgia children will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The goal of Care Affair 2016 is to raise $110,000 for Atlanta-based non-profit CURE Childhood Cancer, dedicated to conquering pediatric cancer through funding research for better and targeted treatments. Because of the hardships placed on families of cancer patients, CURE also provides support through patient and family services.

Kayla McGee
On Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 Kayla had her final MRI imaging scans to determine if any cancer was still present. It was not! That was an exceptional day. The next day, she also had outpatient surgery to remove the port implant, which was used to administer the chemotherapy treatment.
Kayla has had to endure physical pain, and the rest of her family has shared in her emotional pain – plus there was the stress of dealing with it all. As a parent, you feel some level of physical pain and heartache watching your child go through something like this while you stand helplessly by. Kayla being diagnosed with this disease has now caused her Dad to become an advocate for pediatric cancer research.
