Description

Four half hour piano lessons for beginning pianists, specifically children at least 5 years old.  These lessons are taught by West Portal parent Ms. McNab.  The lessons would take place at Ms. McNab's home at a time of mutual convenience.  Ms. McNab has a piano at her house that we could use during lessons. It would be preferable for families interested in piano to have a keyboard to practice the skills they learn.

Flutist Stephanie McNab has held the piccolo chair with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra since 2002. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ms. McNab began piano lessons at the age of 5 with esteemed piano pedagogue, Dorothy Bishop who also gave Michael Tilson Thomas his start piano. Later, Ms. McNab graduated from UCLA School of Music. Before joining the San Francisco Opera, her former orchestral appointments included the Buffalo Philharmonic, New Mexico and the Long Beach Symphonies. Ms. McNab has also been guest performer with the Saint Louis Symphony and regularly performs with the San Francisco Symphony and Ballet orchestras. She has been featured in numerous solo performances, including the Carmen Fantasy with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Ibert Flute Concerto with the Carmel Bach Festival, where she served as principal flutist of the Festival in 2008.
