This great vintage has a classic nose, typical of Pauillac: cassis, cedar, crushed minerals and red fruits. Nearing its absolute prime, the palate delivers rich fruits, roasted coffee and rich red currant compote. The tannins are ripe and there’s plenty of highly concentrated inky fruit. The finish has stunning depth and length. Chateau d’Armailhac delivers power and intensity although it’s still somehow graceful and balanced. Drink now through 2018. JS:90; ST:89
