Artist Bio: Deirdre Day has done lots of things but most of them have to do with words and images. She majored in Semiotics at Brown and moved to New York to write copy for dog biscuits and corn chips. Unhappy that she was writing mostly about edibles, she went to NYU to study creative writing and then stayed on in school to get a doctorate in English from The CUNY- Graduate Center. Having left all that behind, she now makes art out of old books, writes essays and is working on "The Book of Martyrs," an illustrated memoir.
