Graham Motion and his wife, Anita, retired him as an 8-year-old in 2013 after Icabad Crane fashioned a 33-race career record of 7 wins, 7 seconds and 9 thirds, with total earnings of $585,980. Icabad Crane, however, wasn't done as he successfully transitioned to a new career as a three-day eventer. After being entered in the 2014 Thoroughbred Makeover Challenge, Icabad Crane won the title as America's Most Wanted Thoroughbred in the discipline of eventing for Herringswell Stables and Phillip Dutton Eventing.
