Chai is comfort and camaraderie, and the combination of real chai and real food is the synthesis of a new tea culture. With the name “Chaiwali,” owner Anita Trehan has chosen a playful, feminine riff on the traditional "Chaiwala," a male seller of tea, to symbolize the woman as nurturer. She wanted her everyday food to be romantic and sensuous, served in well-designed spaces that reflect community and neighborhood. Chaiwali is a coming together of many worlds, and a new tribe.
