Da Capo Collecitve's musicians are passionate about teaching. In lessons, we strive to create a healthy and constructive learning environment for students of all ages and levels, wherein the student can reach his or her potential. Lessons focus on helping the student develop and integrate these skills towards better musicianship.  Our teachers are university-trained, versatile performers, with many years of teaching experience.  

Da Capo Collective Teachers have music degrees from top conservatories and universities. In addition, they are working professionals who play in rock bands, orchestras, and compose music for film and video games.  While our approach is modern, it is also comprehensive.

John Barber graduated from Boston’s famed, Berklee College of Music, majoring in Performance. John has toured and performed as the co-lead vocalist and guitarist of Ellis Ashbrook, a contemporary psychedelic rock group from Brooklyn, NY. A multi-instrumentalist, John specializes in guitar and piano. John loves teaching, and tailors his lessons to the individual – working through the fundamentals, new techniques, and of course, having a blast learning how to play your favorite music. John also focuses on songwriting, soloing/improvising, sight reading, recording, and how to work with other musicians. John's favorite artists include: The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Grateful Dead, Phish, King Crimson, and David Bowie.
