This sampler package comes with Chapter 24’s three 2012 Pinot Noir selections from the Willamette Valley: The Fire + The Flood, “The Fire” (92 pt); The Fire + The Flood, “The Flood” (92 pt); and The Last Chapter (94 pt). “The Fire” is blended from vineyard sources representing the volcanic “Fire” soils of the Willamette Valley. It’s more red-fruited than its counterparts, with scents of cherries, cedar, sassafras and forest floor. “The Flood” is crisp and detailed, shining a spotlight on the blackberry, currant, smoke and nutmeg flavors in turn as they spin effortlessly through a long and expressive finish. The Last Chapter Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown in both volcanic soil (Fire) and sedimentary soil (Flood). Coming from four vineyards (Shea, Hyland, Tresori, DDL) the combination carries both bright and tart "red" notes from the fire set against deeper more soulful "blue" notes from the flood.
