Description

Title:
"Bridge to somewhere..."

Oil on Canvas 24x30, June 2015

The painting is a surrealist approach to capture the afterglow in Montecito.  This image is inspired by our little arroyo that runs through our property, with our home nestled at the top of those boulders.  The color palette is also inspired by the deep heat we've been experiencing here over the last several years and the "need for rain".  So I added water running through the arroyo, which btw, finally happened during our last rain storm and was gorgeous.  There's more info about me and what I'm doing on my website, if you'd like to check it out:

Chelsea's Bio:

Born in the late seventies to parents of the counter-culture generation, Chelsea Owens was raised in Washington, D.C.  Her vision was instantaneous; driven by a narrative of living and creating.  Collaborating from mural paintings to theatrical production designs, she entered an elaborate journey of fine arts academia from the Corcoran School of Art to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and continued abroad to France with a focus on painting.

Soon after, San Francisco became the new territory, and Owens graduated with honors & awards from the Academy of Art University; a pioneer with a fine arts foundation in the Production Design department of its Film Chapter.
From San Francisco's bohemian art scene to Hollywood, she devoted her time to creative concept and production; from theatre to music videos.

After falling in love with an Italian, she returned to Europe to live, observe, and paint in northern Italy outside of Milan.  For more than a decade she captured her experience as a foreign woman wedged between two cultures and eventual fusion through the power of painting.  Her artwork has been exhibited throughout Europe and the United States.  Chelsea moved to Santa Barbara to raise her two sons; Gray and Taj, among the healing southern California marina landscape.   She travels to and from Italy annually, continuously absorbing the culture as an American woman and through the eyes of her children.   Her studio is located in Montecito, and she welcomes artists, enthusiasts, and the general curiosity.  Her artwork is available for sale, rental, staging, events, print, and other collective endeavors.

This is a Live Event Item.
