Description
Andy Sherman is best known to many of you and your children as one of the musicians in the Shabbat morning children's service, which he has been doing for over 15 years. He will play a half hour (or so) set* at a birthday party for your child aged 4 to 8 as well as leading Happy Birthday for the birthday cake.
A self-described security geek by day, Andy is a singer of folk, blues, and Jewish choral music for both adults and children who has performed in venues ranging from synagogue social halls to Lincoln Center. In the 1990s he was half of the New Jersey folk duo "Keep the Day Job" (they did) which played community coffee house gigs. In 1995 Andy discovered Jewish choral music as a charter member of Shirah - The Community Chorus on the Palisades. He has also performed with the Zamir Chorale of New York, including the premier performances of works by Yehezkel Braun, David Berger, and Benjie Schiller and currently sings with Nashir! - The Rottenberg Chorale as well as at BJ.
*FYI he is not a professional party person, just a musician. You will need to arrange the other activities at the party.
"That's not as stuffy as it sounds. I love your kids and will hang out with them and make small talk, but I know what I'm good at and what is best left to others. Since I have a day job (as noted in my bio) I am primarily available on Sundays. I would also consider a Shabbat afternoon party within walking distance of my home."
