Description
Item description: A set of 8 wines representing a wide variety of wines (sparkling, dessert and six different red wines) and regions (domestic as well a multiple international vineyards). Well worth a look, with something for everyone!
- 2003 Iron Horse Wedding Cuvee (Russian River) (valued at $33). Vintage sparkling wine, this one is definitely dangerously easy to drink. Made predominantly from Pinot Noir, it has a nice acidity and minerality with lime and raspberry fruit and a sweet finish – delicious! Donated by the Song/Bashir Family.
- 2013 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone (valued at $40). Full bodied, smooth textured and well structured, with good length, this one really benefits from some extended air, as the fruit turns richer and sweeter. Donated by the Cutler/Bauman Family.
- 2010 Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino (valued at $45).This wine starts with a tightly wound personality that begins to unravel slowly, one delicate layer at a time. As it does, you become aware of dried fruit, cigar box, crushed mineral, plum, tar and cola. Well-integrated oak notes give the wine a spot of softness and velvety spice. A wonderful wine. Donated by the Thomson Family.
- 2013 Farm Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) (valued at $40). A delicious, big, bold Cabernet, this wine is certainly capable of being drunk now or cellared for 15 years or more. Donated by the Vanholder Family.
- 2013 Etude Pinot Noir Carneros (valued at $38): Deep ruby in color, Carneros Pinot Noir is driven by inviting aromas of ripe cherry and red berries, and accented with notes of forest floor and Asian spice. The classically structured palate showcases a seamless blend of lush, dark fruit and oak, which is enhanced by refined tannins. Due to the low yield of this vintage, this defined Pinot Noir has an intensely concentrated fruit core that is balanced with a bright, lasting acidity. Winemaker's Notes: Etude Carneros Estate Pinot Noir defines the classic Grace Benoist Ranch style with lifted red fruit aromas, ranging from pomegranate and red cherry to wild strawberry and raspberry, and a spicy entry of baking spice, forest floor and sandalwood. Refined tannins and ideal natural acidity frame the lush, intricate flavors. Despite the wine's strength, it possesses a persistent fruit finish and elegance that make it uplifting and polished. Robert Parker: 91 pts. Donated by the Downs/Muraki Family.
- 2014 Valravn Old Vine Zinfandel (Sonoma County) (valued at $20). Layers of richness and complexity wrap around a core of wild strawberry and raspberry. Intoxicating aromatics with scents of mocha, espresso roast, violets and ripe red berries. Rich on the palate with flavors of raspberry, blackberry compote, and hints of licorice-laced black pepper. Donated by the Gonzalez Family.
- 2015 Recanti Yasmin Red (Galil, Isreal) (valued at $12). A harmonious, flavorful red from the sun-kissed Mediterranean vineyards of Israel with a luminous fruit-filled aroma and flavor. Donated by the Hall Family.
- N.V. Yalumba Vineyards Antique Tawny, Museum Reserve (South Australia) (valued at $20). Dark and smoky, sweet but not syrupy, this features coffee, chocolate, walnut, and hazelnut flavors that linger effortlessly. Finish your meal off in style! Donated by the Hall Family.
- 2009 Anchor Brewing Company Christmas/New Year Ale MAGNUM (valued at $16). Each year since 1975, Anchor creates a distinctive rich, dark spiced ale. Take a break from wine and pour yourself a pint! Donated by the Thomson Family.
