Description

Item description: Four international red wines from four different countries --- travel without leaving home.

  • 2001 Finca Allende Rioja (valued at $25). This wine exhibits a sumptuous nose of figs, black currants, blackberries, cigar box, and smoky vanilla. Full-bodied, rich and opulent, with great purity, density and length. Donated by Mark Woolrich and Tava Miyata.

  • 2002 Kaelser “Stone Horse” Shiraz (Barossa Valley, South Australia) (valued at $50). A spectacular wine with great perfume, beautifully integrated wood, and sensational richness as well as length. Mixed plum and caramel on the palate with a floral note and a hearty helping of oak on the finish. Donated by Mark Woolrich and Tava Miyata.

  • 2010 Chateau Pressac Saint Emillion Grand Cru (valued at $35). Violets, plums, ripe blackberries. This 2010 Pressac has gorgeous aromatics. It is a well made plum and violet flavoured wine that is not overly extracted or heavy. The wine has balanced tannins that support without dominating the flavors. This full-bodied wine can be enjoyed young but will also keep for at least another five years. Donated by the Linsley Family.

  • 2013 La Pincoya Red Blend (Colchagua Valley, Chile) (valued at $20). A stunning blend of 60% Cabernet, 20% Syrah and 20% Carmenere, this is a complex wine that has dark fruit and spices on the nose. To the taste, it has a lingering finish with an elegant structure of cedar and vanilla. Donated by the Chung/Huynh Family.
