Description

Item description: 5 bottles of delicious California wines, including:

  • 2013 Broc Cellars Carignan (Alexander Valley) (valued at $27): 100% Alexander Valley Carignan that's fermented spontaneously in whole-clusters and basket pressed. Light to medium-bodied, dry. Notes of blueberries, lavender, even a little mushroomy hint. Classic soft tannin Broc-ness, though it would certainly hold up to white meats like roast pork and chicken, blue cheeses. Donated by the Menger-Thau Family.

  • 2010 Chanteau Mangot Saint Emilion Grand Cru (valued at $30): This is a delicious Saint Emilion Grand Cru raised using organic farming methods. It is made of Merlot 85%, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and matured for 14 months in barrels, 40% new. The soil in the area is mostly clay and limestone. The nose is very pleasant with notes of warm plums, musty fruits, spices and wood. Fresh on the palate, solid and somewhat fleshy with fine tannins. Long in the mouth. 14% ABV. Donated by the Trott/Robinson Family.

  • 2012 Unti Syrah (Dry Creek Valley) (valued at $31): This 2012 Syrah is very dark, with intense blue and blackberry fruit, licorice and spice. Should age nicely over the next 4 to 7 years. Donated by the Macdougal Family.

  • 2013 Copain Pinot Noir — Les Voisins (Anderson Valley) (valued at $35): The flavors run as deep as the dark garnet color in this elegant and sophisticated wine. Aromas trigger black cherry, Alpine strawberry, subtle spice and dried orange, while the fruit flavors are fresh and exuberant. The texture is like velvet, layered with delicate tannins and a firm acidity to cleanse the palate. The complexity and richness of flavor increase with each sip. This is a wine that will age gracefully for 5-7 years. Donated by the Macdougal Family.

  • 2013 Dry Creek Vineyards Chardonnay—DCV Estate Block 10 (Dry Creek Valley) (valued at $35): The aromas start off with wonderful toasty notes of butterscotch, baked pear and caramelized apple. The spices really stand out after a couple twirls of the glass with nutmeg and allspice shining through. The balance between fruit, oak and acid is harmonious from start to finish. It's refined and elegant - a sign of a great wine! Donated by the Brunetti/Dimitre Family.
