Description
Enjoy California and French red and white varietals in Room 3's eclectic mix of wines, including:
- 2005 Chateau Aney Haut Medoc - Cru Bourgeois (valued at $43): The final blend of the wine matches the proportions in which they are planted throughout the thirty hectares of vineyards: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. This traditional Haut Médoc is more like what you might remember of the classic Bordeaux styles of the 1960s and 1970s. Not at all cloaked in new wood or over-extracted tannins, Château Aney’s wines have finesse and balance that make them both approachable now and perfect for longer aging. They are a great choice for any cellar. Donated by the Nash Family
- 2014 ZD Wines Chardonnay (California) (valued at $34): 2014 Chardonnay, CA. The 2014 Chardonnay highlights our commitment to artfully blending for richness, intensity and balance from long-term vineyard partners in Carneros, Monterey, and Santa Barbara counties. The wine is aged for 10 months in 100% American oak barrels which contributes to the richness and complexity of the wine. Aromas of juicy pineapple, guava and lemon zest mingle with notes of sweet vanilla and honeysuckle. The palate is round, full bodied and boasts a core of bright tropical fruit that is balanced beautifully by natural acidity. Donated by the Tabas/Shibata Family
- 2013 Michael David Earthquake Zin (Lodi) (valued at $25): This wine packs so much vibrant fruit, you’ll think the Kool-Aid Man just burst through the wall and punched you in the face! Jam packed with crushed strawberry and dark summer fruit (plum, blackberry, cherry) with a velvety full mouth feel. Vanilla and baking spices round out the finish with a slight hint of tobacco. Ratings: 91 points - Robert Parker, August 2015. Donated by the Vaquera Family
- 2013 Ghost Pines Pinot Noir (Monterey/Sonoma) (valued at $20): Pinot Noir: The Wine Advocate. 88 Points. Robert M. Parker, Jr. Dec 30, 2014 - 2013 Vintage: The 2013 Pinot Noir is composed of 64% Sonoma fruit with the balance from Monterey, mostly all Dijon clones. It exhibits a dark ruby color as well as savory cherry, wild strawberry and herbal notes with some earth in the background. The wine is medium-bodied, has a nice textural plushness (14.5% natural alcohol) and a heady finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Donated by the Priviter/Wialliamson Family
- 2012 NAPA by N.A.P.A. Michael’s Red (Napa Valley Red table wine) (valued at $20): These grapes were hand harvested and the wine was aged in new and second year oak barrels for 22 months (46% toasted French oak, 32% American oak and 12% Hungarian oak). This release is full bodied with intense color, concentrated dark fruit flavors and moderate oak accents and tannins. It is ready to enjoy now and will continue to mature in the bottle for at least 2-3 years. Once poured, the flavors and aromas will become more pronounced after a few minutes in the glass. - 2010 Waterstone Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) (valued at 25): With its Bordeaux-like presence, this wine is deep, rich, and lingering. Firm, integrated tannins frame the concentrated, dark fruit (currant, black cherry, wild berry, plum.) Toasty oak and an earthy edge add to the wine's great complexity. Donated by the Mori/Minami Family
- 2009 Navarro Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendocino) (valued at $30): Still quite compact with a sturdy frame and coarse tannins, but it brings a unique blend of dark plums, lush raspberries, wild herbs, wild mint, musty leather, and dried pipe tobacco. It's simple, linear, and completely one-dimensional, but it's definitely true to place. Drink now - 2025. Gold medal winner—Best of Class. Donated by the Mori/Minami Family
- 2012 Navarro Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley) (Méthode à l'Ancienne) (valued at $35): Medium reddish purple color in the glass. The nose is reserved initially, opening nicely over time in the glass to reveal scents of red cherry, herb garden and floral goodness. More polished and less ripe fruit flavored than the Anderson Valley bottling. The cherry fruit really stands out in this mid weight wine with additional accents of raspberry and baking spices. Very sleek and refined and quite forward. Does not have the fruit-filled finish of the Anderson Valley bottling, but is a more high-collared, sophisticated offering. Donated by the Mori/Minami Family
