Description

  • Chateau Loudenne Medoc 2011 (valued at $24): This Cab Merlot Cru Bourgeois opens with masses of oak, clawy tannins, disharmonious, decanted and left alone for 3 hrs it does mellow and integrate. Remarkably dense opaque color and when breathed it has dense black tarry fruit, not forward but right upfront on the first stage palate. Aroma of dense powerful fruit, fruit cake & wide oak. The mid palate loses some fruit to the tannins and some oak remains in the finish. It is much better after 3 hrs. Critical acclaim: James Suckling: score: 87/100; Concours de Bourdeaux Vins d’Aquitaine: 2014 Gold Medal winner.

  • Wonderwall Pinot Noir 2014 (valued at $20). Winemaker’s notes: "Upfront and forward, the Wonderwall Pinot Noir leads off with fresh and delicious flavors of deep black cherry, boysenberry and just-picked strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, round and very lush with subtle baking spice nuances seasoning the fruit on the long finish." Donated by the Hammonds Famiy.

  • Coppola Diamond Cabernet 2013 (black label) (valued at $16): Well-proportioned, with a core of juicy red and dark berry, featuring a subtle espresso hint in the background. Offers a pleasant push of complex flavors, supported by firm, ripe tannins. Winemaker notes: Our signature red wine, layered with flavors of blackberry, cassis and roasted espresso Claret is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine, blended in the classic Bordeaux style. Drink now through 2024. Donated by the Gehrman Family.

  • Castle Rock Russian River Valley Reserve Pinot Noir 2013 (valued at $15) Winemaker’s notes: Our Castle Rock Reserve Pinot Noir is made from grapes grown in the Russian River Valley, one of California’s most prestigious grape growing appellations. Here, the fog-cooled climate and well-drained soils provide ideal growing conditions for grapes which produce some of the finest wines in the world.  This supple, medium-bodied wine offers rich complex layers of plum, cherry, sweet vanilla oak, spice, cinnamon and floral notes, with a long velvety finish. It makes an excellent accompaniment to lamb, chicken, salmon and light pasta dishes. Donated by the Gehrman Family.

  • 2011 Tyge Williams Sauvignon Blanc (Yountville) (2 bottles!) (valued between $20 and $30): Mysterious sauvignon blanc from Napa Valley. Very little information available about this small winery, named after the owners’ first born son, in Napa Valley. Give it a try! Donated by the Hiestand Family.
