Description

Travis Ishikawa spread his arms as the ball soared into the dark sky and screamed even though AT&T Park shook so violently that he couldn't hear himself think, let alone celebrate a homer that put the Giants in the World Series for the third time in five years.

And then, because nothing comes easily for this group of National League champions, Ishikawa hit a roadblock.

As Ishikawa approached third base, his three-run walk-off homer in the ninth having just given the Giants a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday and a date with the Kansas City Royals, he was confronted by Jake Peavy, who like Ishikawa is one of many unlikely season saviors. Peavy's vision is so bad that he can hardly see Buster Posey's signs some nights, and he was still foggy from laughing gas administered during an emergency dental operation needed because he had chipped two teeth trying to open a pack of gum. He didn't realize Ishikawa had homered, so he ran out for a hug, desperate to tell Ishikawa how proud he was.

"Move!" Ishikawa screamed. "I hit it out!"

WHO WILL EVER FORGET THIS GAME?? Not me - and I have a poor memory!
