Description

8’ surfboard shaped by John Mel with artwork created by Julie’s third grade class.

The idea to create a custom made surfboard was brought to the art teacher, Ilana, whose brilliant and creative mind led the kids to the world of water color. Using various techniques with salt, tape, clear wrapping paper and toothbrushes, each student created his or her own piece of magic.

The art was then sent to a graphics shop in San Diego where designers created a poster made of super-thin rice paper that was sent to John Mel of Freeline Surf Designs to impose onto this surfboard. The finished product took approximately 2 months from start to finish and the 8-foot board is truly a work of art!
