Description
For over 15 years Kosta Browne has crafted intensely flavored and balanced wines from the finest regions in California including the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Santa Lucia Highlands. Kosta Browne’s dedication to quality, stewardship and commitment to customer relationships has propelled the brand to industry leader, producing some of the most sought after new world Pinot Noirs. The winery produces a small amount of wine each year, does not have a tasting room and is not open to the public. The wine is sold to a private mailing list.
Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast 2009 Pinot Noir was named international wine of the year by Wine Spectator. The waiting list to receive appellation wines is currently 2-3 years while the waiting list to receive single vineyard wines currently sits at 5-6 years.
Located on the eastern slopes of the coastal range that shelters the fertile Salinas Valley from Big Sur, this appellation is relatively new with the first vineyards being developed only in the 1970s. The property’s proximity to Monterey Bay makes for a very cool climate, with one of California’s longest growing seasons. The resulting slow and gentle ripening allows for full flavor development on the vine and incredible fruit flavors.
Quite simply, Gary's vineyard tastes like Gary's vineyard and continues to provide with distinctive and exceptional fruit. Courtesy of Michael Browne: "The winery bottles a very limited number of large format bottles exclusively for charity auctions. The winery is proud to support The Hamlin School."
