Description

Cheryl Wu, MD, Board Certified Pediatrician, Manhattan

Experience a one hour talk by Dr. Wu, who will travel to a mutually agreed upon location and explain her Parenting Philosophy for a small, intimate group of parents or perhaps a larger group (50-100).

Dr. Wu will discuss basic principles of how to raise the next generation -- how to help our children become responsible, mature, and contributing adults. All parents, new, seasoned and expectant are welcome as well as well as people who are interested in the topic.

Dr. Wu has frequently been quoted by such publications as Parents Magazine, Parenting, American Baby, The Bump, Univision, and Education.com.

Some pearls from Dr. Wu:

"Parenting is not a formulaic problem, but rather, a heuristic one."

"Children can understand from a very young age the concept of 'basics' vs. 'extras' (ie, rights vs. privileges) - there are only 6 basics: food, shelter/warmth, hygiene, education, medical care, love/security. Everything else is extra."

"When my son was 4 and knew the exact difference between basics and extras, I asked how he knew something was an 'extra', he replied, 'Everything fun is an extra.'"

"You have to treat teenagers as though they're adults, but expect them to act like children."
