Description

These 6 spoons were made by A.E Warner circa 1810 in Baltimore. They are made of "Southern Coin Silver" which chief trait is its scarcity. It is named this from the early practice of melting down coinage and refashioning the metal into wares of silver. They measure approximately 6" long and have a monogram on their handles. The markings on the handle of the spoons say:
A.E. WARNER 10 15

"Put simply, Coin Silver is 90% silver. The silver content is 2.5% less than Sterling and is the same composition as American coins made prior to 1964. Silver is most often alloyed with copper for strength. Coin silver, then, also includes 10% copper."
