Description
This amazing reproduction is of Doris Place, an old general store in Holualoa, Hawaii. The artist is Steven Neill. From his youth Steven learned how to be a fine lettering and gold leaf artist from the best. He worked on Hollywood sets for films such as "The Spirit of St. Louis" lettering the reproduction of Charles Lindbergh's famous transatlantic plane and the vehicles used in "Catch 22". Steven relocated to the Big Island in 1994 where he has translated his love of Polynesia, graphic design, and history into his own unique art form of vintage Hawaiiana signs. These pieces are intended as nostalgic representations of original advertisements and signs that were part of Hawaii during its "Golden Days" of the late 1920's and 30's when Hawaii especially was discovered by visitors arriving on steamships and Pan Am Clippers. His pieces are collected by many including film celebrities and musicians as well as fellow artists recognizing his unique talent. Bring a piece of Old Hawaii home by purchasing an original work by artist Steven Neill. The sign measures 19"x49" and is signed on the back by Steven.
