The tennis program at VTC is now under the direction of North County Tennis Academy, providing the ultimate tennis experience and a team of tennis professionals Micah Groom and Eric Mateljan who are certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association. They offer a full range of activities for Adults and Youth from individual lessons and clinics to camps and after school programs.

Micah Groom
USPTR Tennis Professional

Micah was a top junior tennis player growing up Vista, CA. He earned an Avocado League Individual Singles Championship while playing for the Vista High School Panthers.

He then played  for Palomar College for two years before earning a tennis scholarship to play for Concordia University, Irvine for the 2012-2013 seasons and is now continuing to play competitive Men’s Open tournaments in the Southern California area.  Micah became a leader for all three of  the schools that he played for as he was a team captain at each one.

Micah is a recent college graduate that brings a lot of coaching experience with him.  He has been coaching for the past seven years starting at Oceanside tennis with Tom Luncford and working for Youth League Tennis at different sites all throughout San Diego County.

While attending Concordia University in Irvine, California, he gave private lessons to players of all ages and all levels.  Micah enjoyed being a coach for the high level junior tennis programs in Irvine the most.  These programs included Max Performance Tennis at UCI with Aaron Yovan, the Woodbridge Tennis Club’s junior tennis academy at South Lake, and KG Elite Tennis.
