Kids can let loose while parents lounge or play too at this exciting indoor fun center in Carlsbad. The main attraction is a mega-sized multi-story play structure allowing grown-ups to watch their children have a ball! The play structure’s swings, slides, mini-ball pits and nets provide never-ending fun. Little ones 24 months and under can romp around in a separate toddler area. For quieter play, kids can spend time with toys and books in the facility’s LearnWerx room.

PlayWerx, “Where a Kid Can Be a Kid and You Can Be You!” is at 6060 Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad and is open Tuesdays through Sundays.

Living Coast Family Pass

Family pass includes four (4) admissions two (2) adults and two (2) children to the Living Coast Discovery Center.

The Living Coast Discovery Center inspires care and exploration of the living Earth by connecting people with coastal animals, plants and habitats. We showcase the unique animals and plants of Southern California.  Located just six miles south of downtown San Diego, the Center sits on the 316-acre Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.

Have you ever gone swimming in the open water and caught a glimpse of other creatures swimming with you? The Living Coast aquariums are home to Moray eels, Leopard sharks, stingrays, and other marine life found in San Diego Bay.

The Living Coast is not a natural history museum. Rescued birds thrive at exhibits like Raptor Row and Eagle Mesa. Owls, roadrunners and eagles are just a few of our resident native birds.

The Living Coast Discovery Center is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing environmental education on coastal resource conservation, and instilling a respect for nature and wildlife in people of all ages.

We do this by providing interactive wildlife learning experiences.  Our curators and volunteer docents introduce guests to the way our native creatures live in their natural habitats.

Exhibitions and Installations

We commission art pieces directly from leading contemporary artists rather than reinterpreting existing works of art or applying an artistic element to a hands-on children's activity. By asking artists to create pieces with tactile, physical and participatory components, NCM opens a world of art to children through opportunities to observe and create.

Since re-opening in 2008, the Museum has launched a series of Museum-wide thematic exhibitions featuring original works of art, designed to help our visitors think, play and create. Featuring a wide array of art and inspiring creativity through a range of topics, our previous exhibitions include Childsplay (2008), Animal Art (2010) and our current exhibition, Feast: The Art of Playing With Your Food. The Museum is excited to be preparing for our next big exhibition, which will launch in October, 2013.
