The Museum was developed to showcase and celebrate the music products industry.  Soon thereafter, in March 2000, the Museum was opened to the public. For over ten years, the Museum has provided opportunities for cultural enrichment while preserving our musical heritage through special exhibitions, innovative concerts and educational programs aimed toward a wide range of audiences. 

On permanent display are hundreds of vintage instruments, audio and video clips, and a vibrant interactive area.  Organized chronologically, each gallery features the historic milestones, popular music and instruments of those eras. 

Special exhibitions are presented twice a year with concurrent music presentations and workshops highlighting renowned international and national musicians as well as local talent.  The Museum believes in broad-based educational programming, and providing accessible instructional experience to students of all ages and backgrounds.

Alec Holcomb’s journey to mastering the classical guitar began when he was six years old. Fourteen years later, Holcomb has accumulated an impressive set of accolades including first prize wins at the 2012 Parkening International Young Guitarist Competition, the 2014 Columbus State University Guitar Competition, and the 2015 Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition. A former student of Vanderbilt University and currently at the Curtis Institute of Music, Alec’s technicality and interpretation of famed classical works have pushed the boundaries of the genre. Alec has performed on NPR and was selected as a YoungArts Finalist by the National YoungArts Foundation.

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is situated on a 12-acre campus in downtown Escondido adjacent to Escondido City Hall and Grape Day Park. The campus is comprised of a 1,523-seat Concert Hall, a 406-seat Center Theater, a visual arts Museum, art and dance studios, and a Conference Center containing meeting and banquet facilities. Groundbreaking occurred on June 22, 1991. Since its opening on October 1, 1994, The Center has attracted more than one-million visitors through its performing and visual arts presentations, events in the Conference Center, and education programs.
