“Phoenix Rising” - An Original Mixed Media Painting

This striking piece by acclaimed Chicago-area artist Christy Freeman is a truly stunning representation of the theme of rebirth and resurrection.

This piece was created by Ms. Freeman specifically for this event when she was contacted by a member of the OSCCP.  

Upon learning that the Wounded Warrior Battalion (West) unit symbol is the Phoenix, Ms. Freeman enthusiastically offered to create an original piece that would embody the meaning behind the battalion’s choice of the Phoenix as its unit symbol.

The Phoenix and its legend of rebirth and resurrection beautifully represent the journey that our wounded, ill, and injured service members make along their path to recovery.
