This Small Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from legendary Napa vineyards notable in their own right. The Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper vineyard from Oakville is the backbone of the blend, a vineyard first planted in 1877 to grapes, prunes and walnuts, typical of the time.

2012 Chateau St. Jean Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Retail $25)

91 points Wine Spectator *#78 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2015* Exhibits ripe and juicy, yet firm, flavors of currant and blackberry amid a gravelly earthiness before finding focus on the finish, where the tannins are chewy, revealing a licorice touch. Drink now through 2025. (4/2015)

2001 Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Retail $40)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Dry and tannic in youth. It’s not a particularly ripe wine, but subtle in meshing blackberry fruit flavors with sweet dried herbs and bitter coffee. They strove for balance and harmony, and succeeded. (3/2005)
