KAREN'S BIO
My name is Karen Berlin Ishii and I am a seasoned New York City-based tutor for a wide array of standardized tests and academic subjects. A Brown University grad with over 20 years' experience as an academic and test prep teacher, I tutor students in person in New York City and internationally via Skype. I specialize in reading, writing, grammar, math, and preparation for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, TOEFL, SHSAT, GRE and other standardized tests. Before moving from Boston to NYC, I was a popular teacher for The Princeton Review and founder of Boston Academic Tutors, producing PSAT and SAT courses for The British School in Boston, among others.
Beyond my busy tutoring schedule, I produce presentations on SAT and ACT prep for The Brown University Club in New York (of which I am an Executive Board member) and Summer@Brown University pre-college program and participate in the Fulbright Commission's US College Day in London. I edit test prep textbooks for major publishers including Barron's and the Wiley "Dummies" series, and I score standardized test essays nationwide for Pearson.
