The preschool class decorated an alder bookcase that was handcrafted by Redeux Developments, and then each preschool family stocked it with their favorite books (one children's book and one for an older reader). The back of the bookcase features the handprints and signatures of each preschool student.

The kids began by tearing pages out of old books, of course with instructions that they should never do this at home! :-)  They then dipped the pages in dye and set the pages in the sun to dry.  Next, the kids used glue sticks and scissors to creatively arrange the colored book pages on cardboard triangles.  The preschool benefit committee arranged the triangles into pinwheels and decoupaged them to the bookcase.  An acrylic sealer was applied to the bookcase and a quote that represents this year’s theme of sharing stories was painted on.  

This will be a forever favorite in any home, offering wonderful memories of your budding reader!
