Dr Lindsey Strand-Polyak is a violinist, violist and musicologist. She received a dual PhD/MM degree in musicology and violin performance from UCLA, where she studied with Movses Pogossian, Guillaume Sutre and Elisabeth LeGuin. Dr. Strand-Polyak has presented her musicological research at conferences across the country, including at Harvard, McGill, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Washington. Equally at home on modern and baroque violin/viola, she has appeared in festivals in both North America and Europe, and performs with groups from across the musical spectrum — from early music ensembles American Bach Soloists, Pacific MusicWorks and Musica Angelica, to pop icons Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson. Additionally, she is one of the founding members of the UCLA Early Music Ensemble, re-established in 2009 after a 20-year hiatus, and has served as both Managing Director and Director.

Dr. Strand-Polyak is involved in string education throughout Southern California, having taught with numerous music programs/schools including the Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Mentorship Program, Education Through Music-Los Angeles, Young Musicians Foundation Mentor Artist Program, UCLA Mentorship Program, The Buckley School, and Cornerstone Music Conservatory. In addition, she currently directs SP StringWorks— which is her own violin/viola studio located in Santa Monica—and is a viola coach at Santa Monica High School.
