Description
2012 Fontanella Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Subtle notes of vanilla and cedar surround the robust, hardy, lush mountain fruit mid-palate, with balanced acidity and elegant tannins providing a solid backbone.
92 points Richard Jennings: "Saturated, very dark, black-tinged red violet color; lifted, leafy, tart currant, light menthol nose; tasty, tight, leafy, tart currant, light menthol palate with good balancing acidity; needs 3+ years; medium-plus finish (10% Merlot; 22 months in French oak, 30% new)."
Tour and Tasting for 4 includes our current releases as well as a barrel sampling from our cellar.
From the winemaker:
"Fontanella Family Winery is a modern twist on old Napa. We are a small, family owned and run winery located in the beautiful Mt. Veeder appellation in the Western hills of Napa Valley. Our owner/winemaker, Jeff Fontanella, has been making wine in Napa Valley for over 10 years. His winemaking style is as distinctive, unique and special as the property where we have built our winery. Construction of our winery and tasting room was completed in August 2008. We offer a unique and special experience reminiscent of a time when Napa was almost exclusively run by family-owned operations. Our wines are a blend of tradition, skill, and distinctive winemaking style. Each wine is hand-crafted with exacting standards and accented by the artistic talents of our winemaker/owner. We invite you to visit our winery and enjoy our wines."
