Description
Summer is just around the corner, which means a lot of fun things, like family vacations, time at the pool, backyard barbecues and, for the winner of this item, great wine.
We've assembled a collection of wines to help keep you cool in the summer heat and serve as a great complement to your fun and your grilling. This lot includes one bottle each of:
- 2013 Cakebread Chardonnay
Cakebread Napa Valley Chardonnay boasts fresh, fragrant, apple, melon and pear aromas with a hint of oak spice. Rich and mouthfilling on the palate, its smooth, beautifully balanced, yellow apple, nectarine and honeydew melon flavors segue into a long, succulent finish enhanced by refreshing mineral and spicy oak tones.
Pairs well with grilled chicken w/ lemon, or halibut. - 2010 Contratto For England Brut Rose
The nose is crisp and reminds one of orange and apricot. The wine is complex and impresses with minerality, freshness and length. Its light salmon Rose color is the result of the saignee method, with a skin contact of just a couple of hours.
Ideal as an aperitif, with appetizers or fish. - 2011 Ridge Zinfandel East Bench
A nose of rich raspberry and pepper accompanied by floral and mineral notes. The palate is layered with dark cherry and black currant fruit, mineral, and cocoa. Balanced acidity with fine tannins on the finish. Made with 100% Zinfandel.
Serve with barbeque pork ribs, leg of lamb, or a juicy steak. - 2014 Twomey Sauvignon Blanc
A light straw yellow color and an enticing nose of kaffir lime, pear, Elderberry, crystalized ginger and wet slate. The full palate is highlighted by a sweet attack which is deftly balanced by fresh, vibrant acidity and a purity of fruit. This layered, complex, well-knit wine has an extremely long finish with echoes of citrus, stone fruit and minerality.
Pair with crab or scallops. - 2014 Schafer Dornfelder
A rich, rustic and quintessentially German red wine. Juicy black and red fruits are present on the nose and palate followed by hints of dried rose petals, black pepper, crunchy minerals and a whisper of dusty cherry fruit.
Pairs wonderfully with roasted sausage and mature cow or sheep’s milk cheeses. - 2012 Adelaida Paso Robles Grenache
The wine shows a rosy-blush radiant transparency, with flavors reminiscent of dried cranberries soaked in black tea.
Serve with smoked chicken legs in chive-ginger marinade.
