2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker notes
We are proud to announce that our 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded 94 points and a gold medal at the 2015 California State Fair! For more than 160 years, the California State Fair has showcased the best of California, from wine and olive oil to livestock and fine art.
Our 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon has received many other accolades, including a gold medal from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, 93 points at the 2015 World Wine Championships and 90 points from Tasting Panel Magazine. It was also named a “Hot Napa Cab” by Wine Spectator Magazine.
Rich and complex, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon offers lovely aromas of summer berries with hints of anise, cocoa powder and caramel on the nose. Concentrated flavors of mocha, cherry, ripe raspberry and nutmeg lead to a rounded finish with restrained, yet velvety tannins.
About the winery
Peju is a small, family owned and family operated winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley. Farming organically and sustainably, our estate-grown fruit develops into wines that exhibit a graceful pairing of power and elegance.
About grape stomping
Annual Grape Stomps have become a time-honored tradition in California's wine country. Step into a barrel and feel the grapes between your toes which never fails to be the perfect photo op!
Teams of two (one stomper & one swabby) compete in the hope of being named the greatest grape stomp team. The Stomper stands in a barrel full of grapes and squishes out the juice using their feet. The Swabby stands below the barrel and keeps the juice flowing into the jug, pulling grape skins away from the screen, and pushing juice toward the pipe.
Of course nobody drinks the products made from these events. (Don't despair! There's plenty of other wine available for tasting.) It is strictly done for enjoyment and entertainment, but you get to understand how wine once was made before mechanization and how the time honored tradition became so important to those who sought this desirable beverage.
Winery history
Established in 1982.
When Tony and Herta "H.B." Peju relocated to Rutherford from Los Angeles 32 years ago, they brought with them a vision of building a winery, an unwavering work ethic, and two young daughters who soaked in the couple's entrepreneurial spirit and love for Napa's beautiful farmland.
Still family owned and operated today, Peju Province Winery has transformed over the past 32 years from a simple grape growing venture into a landmark winery celebrated for elegant, complex, and balanced wines in the classic Bordeaux varieties.
Special Instructions
Winner will receive a gift certificate for 2 to attend the stomp and must register in advance with the winery.
