Description

Summer is just around the corner, which means a lot of fun things, like family vacations, time at the pool, backyard barbecues and, for the winner of this item, great wine.

We've assembled a collection of wines to help keep you cool in the summer heat and serve as a great complement to your fun and your grilling. This lot includes:

  • 2012 Newton Unfiltered Napa County Chardonnay

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Newton’s 2012 Chardonnay Unfiltered exhibits lots of honeysuckle, tropical fruit and marmalade, good minerality and excellent acidity that buttresses and provides uplift to the full-bodied, lavish, extravagant nature of this Chardonnay. As this wine ages, it will undoubtedly take on more Burgundy, Bâtard-Montrachet-like characteristics, but it is hard to resist young (which I know from personal experience). Enjoy it over the next 6-10+ years. This cuvée has been one of California’s great classic Chardonnays for over two decades. It also has remarkable aging potential. In the early years, much of the credit went to some of the talented people who worked here, including John Kongsgaard, Luc Morlet and Michel Rolland. (RP)" (10/2014)

  • 2014 Twomey Sauvignon Blanc (2 bottles)

    91 Points Wilfred Wong:

"Clean, sophisticated and fine, the 2014 Twomey by Silver Oak Sauvignon Blanc is a truly excellent effort. Light straw, green color; brisk and lively dried melon aroma, tropical and exotic, fine depth; medium bodied, zingy on the palate; dry, very good acidity, well balanced; super focused dried lemon peel flavors, a hint of savory herbs, minerally and bright; medium finish, crisp aftertaste. Just think if you had a dozen or two briny, raw oysters on a platter now, would that be perfect?"

Pair with oyster, crab or scallops.

  • 2012 Adelaida Paso Robles Grenache

The wine shows a rosy-blush radiant transparency, with flavors reminiscent of dried cranberries soaked in black tea.

Serve with smoked chicken legs in chive-ginger marinade.

  • 2015 Matthiasson Rose

The 2015 Matthiasson Rose was made from a combination of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvèdre, and Counoise from the Windmill vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills, and Syrah grapes from the Hurley Vineyard in Napa Valley. It’s citrusy aromas and crisp, vibrant flavors will complement the wonderful spring foods that show up on the table as the weather thaws (salads, rabbit, frittatas, peas, favas, green garlic…). Perfect for springtime holiday meals, or enjoying on the porch all summer.

  • 2014 Broc Cellars "Vine Star" Zinfandel

Listed on the Top 100 Wines 2014 in the San Francisco Chronicle this Zinfandel has been lauded by drinkers and critics alike as a multi-dimensional restrained Zinfandel that re-imagines what you come to expect from the California varietal.

Chris Brockway’s wines have gained a cult following for good reason. He’s making some very cool, very unique wines. This awesome take on California Zinfandel for example – it’s light-bodied, aromatic and elegant. If you didn’t know it was Zin you might think you were drinking a great glass of Pinot Noir.
