Description

“Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience.” Henry David Thoreau

Write your own masterpiece! Use the room where Henry David Thoreau was born - "the birthplace of ideas" - as a writing studio.

The house is an 18th-century colonial house in Concord that has been restored to Thoreau's time. It is located on an active twenty acre farm, and is close to other sites connected to Thoreau and the other Transcendenatlists (Walden Pond, Emerson House, Orchard House, etc.)

Use the house for seven days, either consecutively or break them up into smaller visits. The space is available Monday-Friday (no weekends) May-October and every day November-April.

Special Instructions

This item includes use of the writing space only. Transportation, lodging, and meals are not included.
