Generously donated in honor of Mike Emmons on behalf of his family, the Hallahans.  

The limited production 2013 DuMOL Estate Chardonnay was grown in sandy ridge top Goldridge soils in carefully selected east-facing vineyards planted on the cool western edge of the Russian River Valley.

 Neatly matched elements of Meyer lemons, ripe apples, crème caramel and toast are teamed in the rich, well-composed aromas and iterated again in the deep and very complete flavors of this wonderfully expressive Chardonnay. The wine is at once slightly viscous, fairly mouthfilling and very energetic, and, while never impressing as a powerhouse, its potent but polished flavors last and last. It will make ideal drinking with salmon in sauce, and it has more than enough weight and richness to complement pan-roasted duck breasts. 

Tasting Notes:

Brilliant pale straw color. Trademark aromatic intensity: lemon curd and lemon grass, sweet lime and honeydew melon, offset by floral lily perfume, fresh fennel and bay leaf complexity. Opens to baked apple, quince and richer citrus. Immediately fruit driven precise palate: grapefruit, white nectarine and Gravenstein apple. Lively, tense and piercing with sea spray and mint notes. Toasted almond richness and texture build with air.  Tangy lime dominates the echoing vibrant finish.
