As one of the last remaining areas of Costa Rica still untouched by large developments, vacationing in Drake Bay is a truly unique experience. With only a few hundred locals living in the main town of Agujitas, Drake Bay is a hidden gem.
The main attractions nearby the resort are the Corcovado National Park and the Caño Island Biological Reserve, both pristine wildlife-spotting areas that are home to a large number of strange, beautiful, mysterious, colorful and endangered creatures.
Hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, horse riding, zip-lining and offshore fishing are just a few of the ways that you can immerse yourself in the rainforests and waterways of Drake Bay. There are miles and miles of unspoiled coastline and rainforest trails to explore either on your own or as part of a bilingual guided tour.Your stay will be in a cabin with an orthopedic King bed. All the cabins at Drake Bay Getaway Resort feature a large deck offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Corcovado National Park and Drake Bay jungle.To reach the cabins, a small hike up a gravel paths and steps is required. When making a reservation, please let them know if you have any difficulty walking uphill or climbing steps.
As part of their commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly development, all cabins are kept cool using natural methods including white roofs, ceiling fans, cross ventilation, and eco-friendly architectural design. Over 90% of the construction material used in the cabins is recyclable.
The bathrooms have twin "rain" shower heads, solar heated water and ceramic tiling imported from Italy and Spain. Each bathroom has an astonishing view of the ocean and jungle-right from the shower! Daily housekeeping and laundry services are included.
Three delicious meals per day are included. Drake Bay Getaway Resort is passionate about offering the most unique, delicious and fresh food they possibly can. The chefs use ingredients from local providers and the resort has their own organic vegetable and herb garden.
The menu is inspired by traditional Costa Rican cooking, fused with modern flavors and presentation. The breakfast menu includes fresh fruits, waffles or pancakes, eggs, banana bread or carrot cake, coffee and the fresh fruit juice of the day.
For lunch and dinner, they offer catch-of-the-day fish, succulent chicken breast, perfectly cooked steaks and fresh seafood including garlic shrimp and even the occasional lobster!
Unlimited specialty coffee drinks and natural fruit smoothies are also included, along with transportation from Sierpe or the local Drake Bay airport to the resort and back.
You'll also enjoy a hiking tour of Corcovado National Park and a Cano Island Snorkeling tour with a bilingual tour guide. Corcovado is a nationally protected area and one of Costa Rica's premier wildlife viewing destinations. The rainforest is home to over 140 species of mammals, 116 reptiles and over 400 kinds of birds. Snorkeling trips to Caño Island are one of the most popular Drake Bay tours. The calm, warm water is home to many sting rays, sea turtles, dolphins, sharks and huge schools of tropical fish. Even for the snorkeling beginner, this tour offers the chance to get up close to an incredible variety of wildlife. During this tour, you will have the chance to see some critically endangered wildlife including humpback whales, rough-toothed and spotted dolphins and Bryde's whales.Alcoholic drinks are not included.
