2013 Quivira Black Boar Zinfandel

2013 Quivira Quest Zinfandel

Black Boar, Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley

Big and bold, intrepid - words often used to characterize the black boar. It's the reason we named Quivira's newest Zinfandel for this fearless beast. Our vision in crafting Black Boar was to explore the reaches of the Dry Creek Valley - home to both the wild boar and to what many consider the finest terroir for Zin - in search of fruit that would provide incredible richness, concentration, yet also balance. For this debut vintage, we didn't need to search far. Zinfandel harvested from our estate Anderson Ranch and Petite Sirah from our home ranch were the principle building blocks, yielding a wine exhibiting characteristics that make the name so apropos.

Quest, Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley

Since its inception as one of our two estate Zinfandels, Quest has always been the alter ego of our other estate Zinfandel, Flight. Whereas Flight is essentially a single-vineyard wine from our Anderson Ranch on Lytton Springs Road, Quest has always benefited from bringing together the best Zinfandel attributes from multiple locations to yield a timelessly classic, rich, bold expression of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Quest and Flight are truly "Yin and Yang" which is as it should be with 2 wines of such distinct personality. Having three estate vineyards to pull from each year, each with decidedly different character, we can always craft a Quest of absolute top quality and Quivira's signature seamless balance.
