Description

What makes a story strong, engaging, entertaining, thought-provoking or humorous? What makes a story work? For this interactive 3-hour workshop, each participant will bring in a story neatly printed or typed, with copies for each other member (limited to 8). Each person will hear their story read aloud (sometimes the most valuable experience), and each story will be discussed. We will first talk about what kinds of comments are helpful and encouraging, and how to respond as a reader, with concrete praise and specific questions. We will also talk about how to make choices about what you want to change, and how to re-enter and revise a story. After the workshop, each student will receive a personal letter from me about the strengths and possibilities of their submitted story. Saturday, June 11 1 - 4 pm, Sebastopol
