Smokey Jean Charis is a northern New Mexico artist and poet. She paints in pastels and watercolors and loves the hues of the southwest, living just 40 miles from Georgia O'Keffee country. She has participated in the Chama Valley Studio Tour.

My mask is a design reminiscent of Mexican Native art and is my own creation. I prepared the surface with gesso and painted with watercolors finishing the piece with matte spray varnish to protect the surface.
