Description

Laura is a Colorado native, artist, wife and mother of 7 children.  She works in watercolor and watercolor batik. She paints in an impressionistic style leaving the viewer to complete the image and connect on a more personal level with her art.   The mask was created in watercolor batik and then mounted. Watercolor batik is a process which uses hot wax as a resist on rice paper. Watercolor paint and rice paper are used instead of the traditional fabric and dyes found in the ancient technique. On a personal note, she has witnessed the passing of many loved ones and the kind and loving care of hospice workers.  Her mask is inspired by the dandelion which is a symbol of freedom and wishes and seemed especially appropriate to the work of Denver Hospice.
