Gay Isis is originally from Ohio but has lived in Northern Colorado since 1978. As a young girl she always had an interest in art. Memories include ordering the John Gnagy “Learn to Draw” sketchbook to taking oil lessens as a teenager. Life happened and art took a side-step until a class taken at Aims Community College introduced her to Dale Peterson, a renowned and award winning Colorado artist. She studied under his tutelage for 7 years. Gay Isis is a casual artist that has taken her art to heart, enjoys creating landscapes and more recently allowing her creative nature to unfold to try new forms.

In most cultures the dragonfly spirit represents transformation and the ongoing life process of change. From a personal experience it represents hope and gratitude to live in the moment even through difficult life challenges. The lotus flower represents patience and purity from rising above the mud and water to bloom pure and perfect. Both interpretations honor the mission and values of Hospice of Denver. I have named the mask “Wings of Gratitude”.
